I dedicate Relish to my husband, Rich, for all his encouragement, support, and hard work in making Myra Klarman Photography a dream come true. I couldn’t have done this without him, nor would I have wanted to.
If the Dodgers ever move back to Brooklyn (it could happen!), Max will be ready...

So last weekend Max, Rico, and I headed to a farm in the Corktown neighborhood of Detroit (yeah, you heard that right: a farm in the city of Detroit). Perhaps you’ve noticed that over the last several decades more than a few auto-related jobs have left the (once mighty) Motor City. And the population has declined substantially, leaving 70,000+ vacant/abandoned lots within the city limits. This exodus has made possible – and in terms of economic, communal, nutritional, and spiritual health, perhaps even necessary – a repurposing of urban land for agricultural use.
One of these “repurpose-ers” is former school teacher Greg Willerer, who established and runs the Brother Nature Produce farm.
To paraphrase Channel 62’s “The Scene,” perhaps it’s time to turn Motown into GrowTown!
